Become a tutor

Why become a volunteer tutor?

1 in 4 New Zealanders have difficulties with literacy and numeracy. People often seek assistance to help their family learn, complete a course of study, or gain a promotion. In order to help them achieve their potential Adult Literacy Franklin needs motivated and skilled tutors. We work with learners from all ethinicities.

Who can become a tutor?

Anyone with a keen desire to help those with literacy difficulties can become a tutor. You do not need prior teaching experience. Our tutors come from all ages and backgrounds and are business people, professionals, farmers, educators and homemakers. You need to enjoy working with people and be ready for a great challenge and be willing and able to complete training, assignments and ongoing professional development. Our tutors are highly trained, motivated and have a lot of fun!

The cost of training is $1300 and you will need to pay a refundable bond before training commences.

What is involved?
